Conditions

Hours
  • Weekdays: 9:30-17:30 (12:30-13:30: No Counter Service)
    • Temporary closure of counter may take place. Please look at the library calender.
  • Closed: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays and New Year's Holidays (December 27th to January 5th), Entrance examinations period
  • Library may also be closed for some events.
Entry Procedure
  • Members of UTokyo: Not required
  • Non-Members and Alumni: Advance reservations recommended. Please check the information for [Non-members/Alumni].
Borrowingmembers only
  • Books: Up to 5 books for 2 weeks (These can be renewed up to 4 times.)
  • Books of Syllabus corner: Up to 2 books for 1 week (These can be renewed up to 4 times.)
  • Journals: Up to 5 by current day
  • Present your IC University ID card or library card.
  • You can't read and borrow bound volumes when the library service counter is closed temporarily.
Photocopying
  • UTokyo Members
    • Photocopying at university expense: Available
      If you would like to make a copy of library materials, please submit a Photocopy Application Form and following at the library service counter.

      • Members of Our Department: None (Please bring Department copy card)
      • Members of other Department: Photocopy Application form of the Libraries for Engineering and Information Science & Technology (You can get it at your Home Library. / Fee)
      • Members of other Faculty: Photocopy Application form of the University of Tokyo Library System (You can get it at your Home Library. / (Fee)
    • Photocopying at private expense: Not available
      Please borrow materials, or use the service of Delivery Request.
  • Non-Members
    • There aren't a copy machine for Non-Members.
    • You can order the Inter-Library Loan (ILL) service. Please consult with your library staff.

  • When you see "Eng.4 Mate.Lib." on the "Location" field in the OPAC search results screen, you can use the material at Engineering Bldg. 4 Library.
  • It is needed application in advance to read rare books and semi-rare books. For details, please ask the library counter.
Dissertations

Please see Dissertation in UTokyo on general use.

Engineering Bldg. 4 Library has course-based doctoral dissertations, master thesis and graduation thesis of Materials Engineering. If you would like to read them, please ask the library in advance.

PDF-2 (Powder Diffraction File)members only

You can use following databases of ICDD(International Centre for Diffraction Data)with the PC at the library.

Delivery Requestmembers only

Members of department of Materials Engineering can order documents from other libraries (in UTokyo or other universities). They are delivered to Engineering Bldg. 4 Library. Fee-based services require additional registration at the library in advance.
