Prospects for a New Era of “with Coronavirus” in the Middle East: From the Palestinian/Israeli Situation (July 23, 2020)

Online Seminar “The New Coronavirus and the Middle East” (3rd session)

The second wave of coronavirus infection has hit Israel and Palestine. Since the first infection was confirmed by foreign tourists and returnees from Japan (Diamond Princess passengers), Israel has taken a strict response, including a lockdown of entire towns, and Palestine, which has imposed unprecedented restrictions on movement by the Palestinians themselves, has been dealing with the infection since the beginning of May. In early May, the spread of the disease seemed to be almost under control. However, another outbreak occurred in July, leaving both communities in a state of great anxiety. The Netanyahu administration’s policy of annexing the West Bank lies at the center of the conflict between the two sides, which are expected to cooperate on cross-regional measures to combat COVID-19.
In this 3rd online seminar entitled “Prospects for a New Era of ‘with Coronavirus’ in the Middle East: From the Palestinian/Israeli Situation,” three speakers from Jerusalem, the intersection of these two societies, will share their experiences and offer their perspectives on the new era of “with coronavirus” in the Middle East.
