Roles of Oman’s Mediation and the Generation Change in the Gulf States (February 24, 2020)

Seminar on Understanding the Middle East

On January 10, 2020, King Qaboos, who had ruled Oman for nearly half a century since his accession to the throne in 1970, passed away. How should we understand the situation in the Gulf, which is attracting attention due to rising tensions between Iran and the U.S. and Japan’s deployment of Self-Defense Forces? This seminar will summarize key points for understanding the current situation in the Gulf and discuss future prospects.
