Lecture-Concert “Learning Arabic Melody in the Aleppo Tradition” (December 1, 2018)

We are pleased to announce the lecture concert by Muhammad Khadry Dalal, a leading oud player and master of traditional songs of Aleppo, Syria’s ancient capital. The concert will be performed by an ensemble of three members: an oud player, a singer, and a percussionist.
The first half of the concert will introduce the basics of Arabic melody and the second half of the concert will feature Arabic songs in a traditional suite format, including a recitation of poems. Regarding the first half of the concert, please refer to the book “Introduction to Arab Music: From Azan to Improvisation” (2018, Style Note) written by Risa Iino.
