  • 1983年：東京大学工学部卒物理工学科 卒業
  • 1986年：東京大学大学院工学系研究科物理工学専攻 博士課程中退
  • 1986年：東京大学工学部 助手
  • 1989年：工学博士
  • 1990年：AT&T ベル研究所 博士研究員
  • 1992年：東京大学工学部物理工学科 講師
  • 1994年：東京大学物性研究所 助教授(凝縮系物性部門)
  • 1999年：東京大学大学院新領域創成科学研究科物質系専攻 教授
  • 2002年：理化学研究所高木磁性研究室主任研究員
  • 2011年：東京大学大学院理学系研究科物理学専攻 教授(現職、2015-クロスアポイントメント)
  • 2013年：Max-Planck-Institut ディレクター 兼務(現職、2019- Managing Director)
  • 2014年：Alexander von Humboldt Professor (W3) , Institute for Functional Matter und Quantum Technologies, University of Stuttgart (現職、パートタイム)
