Our Stance on Personal Information Protection

The website (the “Website”) for “Challenge! Open Governance 2020” (the “Challenge”) managed by “Public Administration & Information Technology” (PadIT), a research project of the Graduate School of Public Policy, the University of Tokyo, handles personal information according to the following:

  1. 1. We will handle personal information properly in compliance with the Private Information Protection Law and other relevant laws and regulations.
  2. 2. We will notify users about a specific purpose of use or publicize it when obtaining personal information and observe such purpose of use.
  3. 3. We will take measures necessary to prevent and correct any unauthorized access to, or leakage, loss, or alteration of personal information.

Purpose of Use

We will not use any personal information beyond the scope necessary to achieve the purposes of use described below without prior approval of any person concerned and no personal information will be used other than those which are said to be disclosed at the time of application.

  1. 1. To manage applicant information
  2. 2. To evaluate applications
  3. 3. To make inquiries to applicants about applications
  4. 4. To provide notification regarding evaluation results
  5. 5. To post names of applying organizations, team leaders, and application details on the Website
  6. 6. To confirm the identity of an inquiring person as necessary
  7. 7. To research and analyze for improvement of the Website and program contents
  8. 8. To conduct academic research about the Challenge

Disclosure, Notification, Correction, Deletion, Suspended Use, Elimination, and Others

If a person concerned must correct, add, or delete certain content pertaining to his/her personal information obtained via the Website, we will correct information after confirming the person’s identity within a reasonable period of time and to a reasonable extent according to his/her request. Subsequently, we will notify him/her to that effect. If a person concerned requires suspension of use or elimination of personal information because such information is used for purposes other than prescribed or disclosed to an unauthorized third party, we will suspend use after confirmation of identity and necessary investigation, within a reasonable period and to the reasonable extent, and subsequently notify him/her to that effect.
