About Us

At the University of Tokyo Jet Propulsion Laboratory (UTJPL), research is done in a wide variety of fields including modern jet engines, future supersonic and hypersonic engines, gas turbines, and liquid rocket engines. Research is conducted by experimental, computational, and analytical methods, focusing on aerodynamic flow and heat transfer. The research conducted at the UTJPL aims to unravel essential details of aerodynamic phenomena, emergence of unsteady flow and the influence of such phenomena on engine performance, acquiring fundamental knowledge which will contribute to future design of aerodynamic engines.
The professional staff of the UTJPL consists of 4 faculty members, Professor Watanabe, Associate Professor Himeno, Assistant Professor Uzawa and Assistant Professor Sakuma.
