By utilizing a composite of the “bucky gel” (a carbon nanotube gel of an ionic liquid) and a fluorinated copolymer, we developed rubberlike transistor-active matrices that can be stretched biaxially by 70% without mechanical or electrical damage. The elastic integrated circuits can be mounted anywhere, including arbitrary curved surfaces and movable parts, such as the joints of a robot’s arm.
