‘PHOTONIC WATER’ CHANGES COLOR TO REFLECT FULL VISIBLE SPECTRUM AND BEYOND

We created a water-based mixture that rapidly changes color when exposed to a variety of stimuli, such as a change in magnetic field, temperature, or pH.  The mixture, which is called “photonic water,” can reflect any color of the visible spectrum — as well as parts of the ultraviolet and infrared regions — producing the widest color-modulation range that has been reported for any material, either solid or liquid.
