CHIRAL ZEOLITE WITH ULTIMATELY ORDERED STRUCTURE
Helical nanostructures have attracted continuous attention as motifs for studying intriguing physical phenomena that never occur in centrosymmetric systems. To improve the quality of signals from these phenomena, the most straightforward is the macroscopic orientation of helices. As a versatile scaffold to rationally construct this hardly accessible structure, we developed a polymer framework with helical pores that unidirectionally orient over a large area (〜10 cm2).
Our polymer framework is prepared by in-situ crosslinking of a chiral supramolecular liquid crystalline salt preorganized in a magnetic field. The framework is capable of incorporating various functional guest molecules and restricting their positions, is expected to serve as a ‘universal’ scaffold for arraying molecules into a helical and macroscopically oriented structure.
