Difference between Fast Breeder Reactors (FBR) and Light Water Reactors (LWR) |
FBR cycle use Plutonium as fissile fuel and also use fast neutron spectrum to undergo fission compared to LWR. This neutron spectrum enable the creation of new fissile plutonium inside the core itself using breeding material. FBR cycle also help to stabilize dangerous fission product (FP) and Minor actinides by transmutation. |
