Research interests/研究内容
Recent progress of molecular cell biology have been revealing a lot of structures and funstions of biomolecules. We aim applications of cell or biomolecules using various techniques, which includes protein engineering, genetic engineering and organic synthesis, based on hot biological findings.
Cell Engineering group (Prof. Kawahara) is trying to control cellular responses by engineering of membrane proteins for bioindustrial and medical applications.
Chemical Bioengineering group (Prof. Yamaguchi) is trying to do researches on cell engineering or protein engineering unsing chemical methods. This group is developing cell control techniques and aggregation inhibitors of protein.
We are also conducting a wide variety of studies on applications of post-translational modification enzymes.
