Kyoto Protocol 1997; An Oral History Global Project
Project outline:
The Kyoto Protocol adopted on 11 December 1997 was a remarkable step forward to limit and reduce greenhouse gases emissions with agreed targets and burden for developed countries under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
While the history of negotiations between governments is known, we aim to explore the multi-national and multiple-level networks and contacts between industry, labour, NGOs, and civil society organisations (CSOs) across the globe which facilitated the conclusion of the COP negotiations.
We aim to globally cover Japan, Asia, Americas, Europe, Africa, and Middle East in our research, including international organisations and regional organisations, as well as national- and local institutions.
