Kaneko Yamasaki Laboratory
Professor: Shigehiko Kaneko
Associate Professor: Yudai Yamasaki
Kaneko Yamasaki Laboratory is a renowned and active research group in the field of mechanical vibration and control located at the University of Tokyo. Our primary research is focused on the development of high efficient energy machineries and vehicle safety equipments.
Micro gas turbines and gas engines using biomass fuels are under investigation for the applications in distributed power generation systems. Our group is concentrating on using advanced control strategies to achieve higher energy efficiency. Real-time control systems for both the two kinds of machineries are developed for safety-operation with high efficiency.
The researches on the prevention of traffic accidents are also carried out. We investigate the mechanism and the usage of the information of pulse wave propagation. A noninvasive air-pack sensor is equipped at automotive seats to measure biological signals of human. The obtained pulse wave is processed and analyzed to find out the relationship with the human sleep. The ultimate goal of this study is to predict the human sleep using the information from the air-pack sensor and give an appropriate warning before drivers fall into sleep during the drowsy driving on highway.

Students who are interested to join the group should have strong background in science and engineering disciplines and enjoy technical challenges. For more information, please feel free to contact Prof. Kaneko.
