Welcome to our site. This department was founded in September, 1954, one of the oldest departments of cultural anthropology in Japan. If you are a foreigner and interested in education of College of Arts and Sciences or Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo, first of all, please look though the following web pages carefully. We do not have any different procedures for admission process; we follow the procedure of Graduate Department of Interdisciplinary Cultural Studies, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo.


Our classes, both of undergraduate education and graduate education, are taught in Japanese. So, you need a pretty good command of the Japanese language, with certain fluency in everyday Japanese.

(The station is on "Inokashira"-line, which runs between Shibuya and Kichijoji. Express trains don't stop).
