Physiology of Mammalian Embryos and Reproductive Organs.
Studies on cryopreservation techniques for embryos and reproductive organs (detection of new cryoprotectants, development of convenient and stable cryopreservation method, study on molecular mechanism of freezing damage). Molecular studies on the mechanism of biological and cytopathological programmed cell death, apoptosis, in porcine granulosa cells and oocytes (development of monoclonal antibodies against membrane glycoproteins specific for atretic granulosa cells, survey for changes in sugar chains on the surface of degenerating granulosa cells using lectin histochemistry, HPLC, NMR, FACS, and electrophoresis, detection of mRNA related to regulation of cytosolic calcium ions specific to the apoptosis). Novel regulation mechanism in sugar chains of follicular cells. Physiology of oviductal and uterine epithelial cells in early embryo genesis. Functional histology of reproductive organs and cytological studies on development of the genetic pathological model animals and wild animals.
Molecular and Biophysical Morphology in Vertebrates.
Studies on micro-quantitation for bioactive substances and their mRNA and application to the molecular pathological study on the dynamics of extra cellular matrix (ECM) components in experimental nephropathy and hepatic failure, together with in vivo 31P-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) studies on the high-sensitive prognosis for embryonic, gonadal, hepatic and renal disorders caused by environmental toxic compounds. Cellular and molecular studies on the experimental models with fibrotic diseases: (I) Renal glomerulofibrosis, and hepatic fibrosis. (II) Molecular regulation of apoptosis in granulosa cells of atretic ovarian follicles.
Other subjects
Morphometrical and histochemical study on vertebrates skeletal muscles. Comparative physiocytochemical studies on pituitary grand and mammalian antigen presenting cells.
