Regulations of the Association

Revised on August 11,2021.


Chapter1: General Rules

Article 1
The title of the association is “The Alumni Association of the Department of Civil Engineering, the University of Tokyo”.

Article 2
This association aims to strengthen relationships between its members and to inform members about their fellow members’ activities.

Article 3
This association can establish local branches.

Article 4
This association’s secretariat is located in the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo.

Chapter2: Membership

Article 5-1
(Regular Members)
Any person having graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo or having graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo is a regular member of this association. Any person possessing a doctoral degree from the Department of Civil Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo is also a member of this association.

Article 5-2
(Regular Members)
Any person that withdrew from the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo or the Department of Civil Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo, or any person who was a researcher, research student, or an exchange student of the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo or the Department of Civil Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo can become a regular member of this association upon approval of the Councilors.

Article 6
(Special Members)
Any person who is or has been a professor, an associate professor, or an assistant professor of the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo or the Infrastructure of Engineering Division, Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo, and who is not covered by Articles 5 to 7, is assumed to be a Special Member of this association.

Article 7
(Student Members)
Any student enrolled in a formal program within the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo or the Infrastructure Engineering Division, Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo is a student member of this association.

Article 8
(Annual Fee)
Regular and associate members are required to pay 4,000 yen as an annual fee.

Article 9
(Notification of Change)
Members are requested to immediately notify this association following changes to their job, office, or address.

Chapter3: Directors and staff

Article 10
The association is directed by a committee that consists of: One chairperson Two sub-chairpersons Councilors, consisting in principle of two persons for each graduation year One executive secretary. Managers.

Article 11
The chairperson is elected by a vote among professors with membership at the University of Tokyo.

Article 12
The chairperson recommends two sub-chairpersons, one executive secretary, and managers.

Article 13
Councilors are elected by each graduation year.

Article 14
The chairperson manages the association business on behalf of members.

Article 15
The sub-chairperson assists the chairperson and can carry out the chairperson’s duties as a proxy when the chairperson cannot carry out duties.

Article 16
Each councilor is required to facilitate contact between this association and the members in his or her graduating year.

Article 17
The executive secretary guides the business and official affairs of this association.

Article 18
The manager carries out the business of this association under the chairperson’s orders.

Article 19
A director’s term of office is one year. However, he or she can be reappointed.

Article 20
Staff can be appointed by this association when the chairperson deems it is necessary.

Chapter4: Association of Councilors

Article 21
A meeting of councilors is held every year. However, subject to the chairperson’s judgment, a meeting can be called at any time. The association of councilors deals with the closing of revenue and expenditure of the previous year, changes in the regulations of the association, and any other important matters.

Chapter5: Property of Association assets

Article 22
The property of this association consists of the fees, contributions, and the interest accrued on the balances. The closing of revenue and expenditure are reported once a year. A fiscal year is assumed to run from April 1 to March 31 of the following year.
